Games Design
Prayer
Prayer was the Final Year Digipen 3D Game Project.
For this project, I had the role of Art Lead and Assistant Level Designer.
Working closely with my fellow designers, we tried to make a tribal-themed puzzle platformer with an engaging narrative experience.
It has been featured on the Digipen Games Gallery.
Concept and Development
The game's concept was initially inspired by A Short Hike. We wanted to present an explorative experience with a sense of flight. The prototype did not come out as desired since our vision was for players to have a sense that they are ascending but the gilding mechanics did not match that vision.
Working around it, we took references from Super Mario Odyssey where Mario had many forms he could take with their own unique abilities and restrictions.
Tutorial
Enka starts in the village helping out the chief collect some fruit using shapeshifting powers blessed onto her by animal spirits.
It introduces the players to a peaceful status quo and a safe space to learn her abilities.
At the end of the tutorial, however, the village is attacked and Enka is left the sole survivor of a petrification curse. This acts as the inciting incident that prompts her to chase the perpetrator.
Game Flow
Level 1
The village is left in ruins with petrified villagers.
Enka leaves the village and chases the mysterious figure to recover the seal from the ritual that was stolen.
The path will moderately test players in their platforming skills as build-up for the last level
Level 2
Volcano where the evil Ranka wants to cause the lava to overflow and destroy the village
Being the climax of the game, Enka must use the mastery of her abilities to climb up the treacherous volcano which has been made more dangerous by evil spirit minions scattered about
Unlike the previous level, this level contains more verticality to present new challenges.
Resolution
Enka successfully stops Ranka from unleashing the lava onto the village and restores everyone back to normal with the help of her own guardian spirits
The village is thus saved, but it seems Ranka has escaped, vowing vengeance....

Veggie Smites
A Digipen project done in Unity, Veggie Smites is a match-3 puzzle game where players try to defend their barn from invading mutant vegetables
For this project, I was part of the design team as the lead designer and artist for the user interface
We had decided to go for a pixel art style to make the game more approachable for casual audiences
Concept and Development
The vision of the team was to make a casual game that was accessible to a wide audience. To that end, we ideated and decided to combine the elements of 2 casual style games: Angry Birds and Zuma.
The sling-shot mechanic and physics of Angry Birds were combined with the match-3 tile matching of Zuma, with players needing to stop the march of mutant vegetables before they reached the barn.
